Interventional pain management includes various injections based on the area of treatment. Most common is in the lumbar spine and can consist of epidural injections for radicular pain and medial branch block to evaluate the effectiveness of steroids/lidocaine on medial branch nerves. If MBB is effective, an RFA radiofrequency ablation is performed to cauterize the same nerve. It can provide 3- 6 months of reduction in pain in the back area associated with specified levels.
